The capital, Baghdad, will host tomorrow, Friday, the Asian Society conference with the participation of most Asian member states to discuss eight files, including voting on a draft resolution related to Palestine.
A member of the Foreign Relations Committee in the House of Representatives, Haider Al-Salami, said in an interview with “Al-Sabah” that “the political committee of the Asian Parliamentary Association will hold its meeting on Friday and Saturday,” noting that the meeting “will be attended by all Asian delegations within the association, which will reach 15 delegations.” ".
Al-Salami explained that “the General Secretariat of the Assembly will discuss eight draft resolutions related to the political situation for the purpose of unifying the visions of Asian parliaments and activating the role of parliamentary diplomacy,” adding that “the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is concerned with diplomacy and international relations, and today we are on the other side, which is parliamentary diplomacy, which is concerned with bringing people together, given that Members of Parliament are representatives of the people, and decisions and laws are issued from them.”
The representative continued, “There is a draft resolution specifically for Palestine that will be discussed among the draft resolutions presented on the agenda of the Political Committee of the Asian Parliamentary Association,” indicating that “the draft law is in the interest of Palestine, with our reservations on some of what is stated in it, especially with regard to the two-state solution, as it indicates an implicit recognition that The Zionist entity is a state, and Iraq will announce its reservation and abstention and amend these statements because we believe that there is an entity usurping the lands of the Palestinian state.”
