Today, Wednesday, the Parliamentary Finance Committee determined the body capable of making amendments to the 2024 budget, while indicating the amount of funds spent during 2023.

Committee member, Moeen Al-Kazemi, said in an interview with the Al-Ma’louma Agency, “The budget that was approved in mid-2023 is a tripartite budget, meaning that it will be implemented for three years, which was then estimated at 198 trillion Iraqi dinars, in both its operational and investment parts.”
He added, "The government did not spend the amount of 198 trillion dinars last year, but was content with spending only 140-150 trillion dinars," indicating that "last year's budget did not witness a deficit."
A member of the Finance Committee explained, “The 2023 budget, with its same clauses and texts, which consist of 78 articles, and its schedules (A, B, C, D, E), will be transformed into the current year’s budget.”
Al-Kadhimi stated, “The current year’s budget will be subject to amendments commensurate with the government’s work, and on its basis it was approved by the House of Representatives, and is on its way to implementation,” stressing that “only the government will make amendments to the budget law for the current year.”
Earlier, economic expert Nabil Al-Ali stressed that the government must submit schedules for budget expenditures for the current year, indicating that the government will negotiate with the political forces to pass the amendments.
The process of the Council of Ministers’ approval of a “tripartite” budget extending until the year 2025 was a positive point that was welcomed by a number of economic affairs specialists, who praised the paragraphs supporting increasing rates of sustainable development, especially in the health and educational aspects. Ended / 25 R.
