The Ministry of Interior intends to prepare controls to ban the use of electronic games that incite violence, as they constitute a threat to societal security and a means of smuggling money abroad.
The Secretary and Rapporteur of the National Committee for Regulating Weapons and Restricting Weapons to the State, Brigadier General Mansour Ali Sultan, said, “Among the tasks carried out by the committee is moving towards preparing controls to limit or reduce electronic games, especially those that incite violence, including the game (Maryam) and (Blue Elephant).” And (PUBG), in addition to a number of other such games, for which a complete list has been prepared, and the procedures agreed upon with the concerned parties, including the Communications and Media Authority, will be implemented.”
He explained that "some electronic games are a means of smuggling money abroad, as the Ministry indicated that the value of the money that was smuggled during the past year reached one billion dollars, which is spent on charging the cards for those games, and therefore this is considered a great danger that threatens the individual economy in particular and the state in particular."
