Electronic payment at gas stations save public money and prevent smuggling

As part of the government's directions to build an advanced system in electronic payment operations and leave paper payment processes in order to preserve public money from waste and smuggling of oil, the Ministry of Oil implemented a successful experiment in electronic payment at fuel filling stations, and the ministry announced that next April will witness the application of electronic payment in the Karkh and Rusafa sides of Baghdad While the application will be circulated in the rest of Baghdad and the provinces in early May.
A member of the Parliamentary Integrity Committee, Alia Nassif, said, in an interview with "Al-Sabah": "Resorting to the electronic payment process is very important and legalizes many joints that cause waste, whether it is public money or wealth."
She added, "There are smuggling operations that take place by some stations, in addition to the payment by card rationing the money and its return and collection to the Ministry of Oil," and indicated that "the electronic payment process instead of the direct payment is a step forward."
For his part, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Oil, Assem Jihad, said in an interview with “Al-Sabah”: “The Oil Products Distribution Company has begun experimenting with the electronic payment process in a number of fuel filling stations in Baghdad, in cooperation with the Central Bank of Iraq and electronic payment collection companies.” ".
And he indicated that "this experience came as a prelude to applying the practical experience and generalizing the experience in Baghdad, starting next April, and then throughout the country across the governorates next May, and it comes within keeping pace with development in this field and improving the level of services provided to citizens."
He pointed out that "this step will reduce the burden on citizens and fuel filling stations, and thus will put an end to some of the violations that occur here and there, and contribute to the transition from the paper-based payment system to the electronic, which is an important step in line with the directions of the government and the Ministry of Oil to adopt electronic payment in all fields."
In a previous statement, Jihad explained that "the application of electronic payment at gas stations will begin with a number of stations on the Karkh and Rusafa sides at the beginning of next April, and will be generalized to include all stations in Baghdad and the provinces, starting next May." electronic financial transactions.
He pointed out that "the electronic payment application is a civilized system that supports the national economy, reduces the burden on the citizen, and will transform paper-based transactions into electronic ones, as well as reduce time and eliminate negative cases." He continued, "The system works on (MasterCard and QiCard) used In receiving the salaries of employees and others, and if they are charged with a balance, they will be usable in all stations, and there will be no special cards.
