Bill Clinton Details His Love Story With Hillary Clinton, Leaves Out a Key Part

PHILADELPHIA – The evening Hillary Clinton became the first woman to secure the nomination of a major party for president of the United States, her husband, former President Bill Clinton, became the first man to endorse his wife for president at a major party’s convention.
“In the spring of 1971, I met a girl,” the former president said as he began a personal speech about how he met his wife of 40 years.
When he first met his wife, then Hillary Rodham, Bill Clinton said he was too nervous to talk to her – so she spoke to him.
“I was so impressed and surprised that, whether you believe it or not, momentarily I was speechless,” the former president known for his loquacious speeches joked.
Many in media, including ABC News’s George Stephanopoulos, pointed out the omission of some key parts of the couple’s narrative, including a high-profile affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky which led to his impeachment in 1998.
Moving past their own story, the the 42nd U.S. president asked those watching to elect his wife as the country’s 45th president.
Bill Clinton described Hillary Clinton as a “natural leader,” and a “change-maker,” adding that she “has never been satisfied with the status quo in anything.”
“She always wants to move the ball forward,” he said. “That is just who she is.”
According to CNN, Tuesday’s address was Bill Clinton’s 10th address to a Democratic National Convention.
