    The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed the lifting of the siege imposed on the Syrian city of Deir al-Zour three years ago, and highlighted the role played by the Russian air strikes and the bombing of missiles "Caliber" winged.
    The ministry said the Russian air and space forces and the frigate "Admiral Essen" dealt a heavy air and missile strike to the support centers and points of concentration of troops and armored vehicles belonging to "Daash" on the outskirts of Deir al-Zour.
    The air strikes and the strike by the frigate's Caliber missile resulted in the destruction of a number of terrorist-fortified sites, a complex network of underground tunnels, firecrackers, caches and ammunition depots.
    The ministry pointed out that the units of the government forces led by General Suhail al-Hassan relied on the results of Russian air and missile strikes, and managed during a lightning attack to penetrate the defense lines to the organization "Daash" and was able to lift the siege imposed on the city of Deir al-Zour.
    The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed that "Daash" tried to stop the attack by the government forces, using a large group of suicide bombers riding in armored vehicles. According to the statement, the government forces' intrusion units were able to destroy more than 50 car bombs driven by suicide bombers.
    At present, units of government forces are expanding their offensive and are fighting street fighting to liberate neighborhoods controlled by the organization.
    The Russian Ministry of Defense has confirmed that the suppression of the forces of "Daash" in the countryside of Deir Al-Zour and lifting the siege of the city would constitute a strategic defeat of the terrorist organization in the territory of Syria.
