Al-Hayat quoted an informed source as saying that "influential political parties are behind the escalation of the popular protest movement in the areas of the outskirts of Baghdad," noting that "these bodies seek to employ this election by making promises to implement simple service projects in exchange for cleverly eliciting the votes of the inhabitants of those areas "He said.
He added that "the protests will not stop until the elections," expected to "extend to the main areas in the capital." 

A number of areas of Baghdad witnessed during the past period, large demonstrations in a number of areas of the capital, in order to demand the provision of services, where most of those demonstrations turned into open sit-ins that closed the roads and shops.
