WASHINGTON - US President Donald Trump plans to announce new customs duties on imports worth about $ 200 billion by Monday, the Wall Street Journal reported.
The paper quoted well-informed sources as saying the fees would be about 10 percent, less than the 25 percent fee announced when the administration first said it was considering the round of fees.
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
White House spokeswoman Lindsay Walters said on Friday that Trump "was clear that he would continue and manage to take action to deal with China's unfair trade practices ... We encourage China to address the long-standing concerns raised by the United States" .
"Trump has already issued instructions to his aides to push ahead with the imposition of customs duties despite Treasury Secretary Stephen Menuchin's attempts to resume talks with China," a source familiar with the matter told Reuters.
