BAGHDAD - The
Committee on Agriculture revealed on Monday, the loss of millions of Iraqi dinars because of the control of influential figures at the border crossings.
"The local producer is exposed to a conspiracy aimed at hitting the Iraqi product and the spread of unemployment by bringing in a foreign product that is outdated and unfit for human consumption," committee member Ali al-Badairi told a news conference.
"This helped to spread the serious diseases in Iraqi society," he said, noting that "domestic production of eggs and fish cover the need of the market, but still imports."
Al-Badairi pointed out, "Note how the crossings were opened for the entry of these items through the border crossings, without any monitoring or auditing, especially the executor of Ibrahim al-Khalil." This caused the loss of millions of Iraqi dinars to owners of fish farms.
