International media outlets confirmed a senior Iraqi military source, the intention of the American side to evacuate its camps in Kirkuk and Qayyarah, in the north of the country, after it evacuated the existing camp in the border area with Syria, which was established with the start of operations to restore the Iraqi-Qaim Iraqi-Baghuz in late 2017.
The source added that the second withdrawal will include the Key One camps in Kirkuk governorate, and Qayyarah in Nineveh governorate, and there is talk about the withdrawal from 3 other bases in the vicinity of the capital, Baghdad, describing this as a positive step towards the parliamentary decision issued on January 5 last, which calls for the withdrawal of various foreign military forces From Mesopotamia.
The source reports that the US-led international coalition against ISIS has informed the Iraqi side of its intention to withdraw from the bases and installations it occupies alongside the Iraqi military forces in the foreseeable future, without providing further details.
Other security sources confirmed that the withdrawal, or the current US measure, is repositioning and controlling the deployment of forces in a very limited number of bases, stressing that Washington wants a smooth withdrawal that saves its face. Here, the American-European argument stands out from a number of countries working in the coalition, most notably Britain, to justify some of its forthcoming withdrawals, while suspending the training of Iraqi military forces for fear of an outbreak of the Corona virus.
