Independent MP Hadi Hassan Al-Salami revealed, on Monday, that a lawsuit was filed against the General Customs Department for refraining from implementing the electronic platform system, while the Prime Minister called for the formation of an investigation committee to uncover cases of corruption in customs.
Al-Salami said in a statement that Mawazine News received a copy of it, that "the Border Ports Authority, in accordance with Cabinet Resolution No. 106 of 2018, has established a secure electronic platform that works to audit transactions completely, controls state revenues and limits cases of corruption, financial and administrative," noting that "The concerned authorities have started implementing this platform, with the exception of the General Customs Directorate, which refuses to work with it."
He added, "The failure to use this platform by the General Customs, impedes the entry of trucks and increases cases of financial and administrative corruption," surprising at the same time, "the insistence of customs not to apply it like other ministries and departments."
Al-Salami called on "Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi to form an investigative committee to uncover cases of financial and administrative corruption in the Customs Department and the reason for not using this important electronic system, issued by the Council of Ministers." Ended 29/R77
