: The Customs Authority announced today, Tuesday, the seizure of 24 trucks that "entered illegally" through the border crossings.
In a statement received by Mawazine News, the authority said, "The directives and continuous supervision of Director General Shaker Al-Zubaidi and the exceptional efforts made by the investigation and anti-smuggling departments of the customs areas directorates resulted in the seizure of hundreds of trucks carrying illegally entered materials through border crossings."
The statement added, "These efforts contributed to obtaining customs duties differences that are evaded by twisting methods away from the control of customs, as well as controlling smuggling of materials prohibited from import."
And he continued, "The latest seizures carried out by the Investigation and Anti-Smuggling Department in the Central Region Customs resulted in the seizure of 19 trucks loaded with various materials (electrical appliances, construction materials, foodstuffs, tires, and other miscellaneous materials), on the other hand, the Investigation and Anti-Smuggling Department in The Northern Region Customs seized 5 trucks carrying violating materials (electrical cables, iron pipes, foodstuffs), and the Northern Region Customs Directorate destroyed a consignment of electronic pellets in violation of import controls.
The authority indicated, "to take all legal measures against violations in accordance with the effective Customs Law No. 23 of 1984 as amended," stressing "its determination to tighten the screws on all those who may be tempted to prejudice the food and financial security of the country by performing the duties entrusted to it with care and honesty."
