Nechirvan Barzani warns of a "real danger" affecting all of Iraq
Shafaq News/ The President of Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, today, Monday, sent a message after attacks launched by ISIS on Iraqi forces last night.
Barzani said, in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, that "a series of ISIS attacks last night in Baghdad, Diyala, Salah al-Din and Kirkuk on the armed forces and the federal police, which resulted in seven martyrs and more than 20 wounded, posed a serious threat."
Barzani added that "the movement of ISIS and the expansion of the attacks constitute a real threat to the stability of all of Iraq, which must be taken into serious consideration and responded to strongly."
Barzani continued, "To confront the threats of ISIS, more cooperation must be carried out between the army, the armed forces, the Peshmerga, the Iraqi security apparatus and the Kurdistan Region," stressing at the same time the need for "continued support of the international coalition against ISIS for Iraq and the Kurdistan Region."
Barzin pointed out that "the security and political situation in Iraq requires cooperation and coordination between all Iraqi forces and parties," noting that "the state of political obstruction has become a cause of conflict, instability and an increase in ISIS activity."
"I express my grief to the families of the martyrs, and I wish a speedy recovery for the wounded," he added.
