, head of the Popular Mobilization Authority, Faleh al-Fayyad, confirmed, on Thursday, that the coordination framework has not yet taken its official position on the issue of holding early parliamentary elections, while noting that the framework is "still on its position and its candidate" to head the next government, which is Muhammad Shia al-Sudani.
Al-Fayyad said in a statement to the Qatari "Al-Jazeera" channel, which was followed by Mawazine News, that "the re-run of the parliamentary elections is no longer an issue for the Sadrist movement," noting that "the re-election has become related to other components and alliances as well."
He stressed, "The coordination framework has not yet taken its official position on the issue of holding early parliamentary elections," noting that "dissolving parliament and holding early elections will be a solution if all blocs and other political parties agree."
Al-Fayyad continued,
He added, "The proposals of the leader of the Sadrist movement to resolve the crisis can be discussed to reach common positions on it," noting that "the coordination framework authorized Al-Amiri to communicate with Al-Sadr, but the final decision to resolve the crisis will be in the hands of the framework."
He continued, "The coordination framework praised the Prime Minister's initiative to resolve the crisis, but it needs the consensus of other parties," noting at the same time that "the current government is a caretaker government and does not have the powers to hold re-elections."
He went on to say, "It is possible to agree to form a new government that will prepare for the upcoming elections to overcome the crisis," adding that "the coordinating framework is still at his position and his candidate to head the next government is Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani." Ended 29/N33
