The head of the Parliamentary Agriculture Committee, Thaer al-Jubouri, confirmed today, Tuesday, that the stage that Iraq has reached now of drought and desertification is fatal for Iraqis.
Al-Jubouri said, "The Ministry of Water Resources decided to use submersible water storage that contains a high percentage of pollutants," stressing that "Iraq's water storage will soon run out due to the large amount that Iraq needs to cover the water shortage in the Tigris and Euphrates rivers."
He added, "Iraq now needs radical solutions, which lie in working to release Iraq's water quotas that Turkey controls through the dams that have been built, the last of which is the Al-Jizrah Dam."
