Informed sources revealed that Turkey has informed the Iraqi government that it will not allow shipments carrying crude oil from the Kurdistan region to leave the port of Ceyhan.
The sources said that the Turkish authorities had informed Baghdad "that they would not allow shipments carrying crude from Iraqi Kurdistan to leave the coastal port of Ceyhan without the approval of the federal government."
The Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani, announced on March 13 that a "comprehensive" agreement had been reached for the outstanding issues between Baghdad and the Kurdistan region.
Al-Sudani said during a press conference that "the understandings between Baghdad and Erbil were on clear points," noting that in the event of any differences between Baghdad and Erbil, there is a committee that submits its recommendations to the federal prime minister.
He added, "For the first time, the total revenues of the oil produced in the region are deposited in a bank account in which they are deposited and subject to federal administration," noting that "the understandings between Baghdad and Erbil" confirm the progress of the two parties towards approving the oil and gas law.
