Disagreements prevent the selection of the new Speaker of Parliament

Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, late yesterday evening, Saturday, adjourned the session for selecting the new Speaker of Parliament until further notice, after disagreements that prevented a vote on one of the candidates in the second round.
The second round of electing the Speaker of the House of Representatives was held in the presence of 232 deputies, after a delay that extended for several hours after the end of the first round on Saturday evening.
The Media Department of the House of Representatives stated, in a statement, that “the House of Representatives will resume its session to elect the Speaker of the House,” indicating that “the number of attendees is 232 deputies.”
She added that "the House of Representatives is voting to add an item to its agenda," noting that "the House of Representatives decided to adjourn its session."
The House of Representatives had decided, in a previous statement, “to resume its session after half an hour.”
He added that “the number of signatories is 341, the number of voters is 341, and the number of ballot papers is 341,” noting that “the candidates for the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives are: Representative Salem Al-Issawi, who received (97 votes), Representative Shalan Al-Karim (152 votes), Representative Talal Al-Zubaie ( One vote), MP Amer Abdul-Jabbar (6 votes), MP Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani (48 votes), and ten invalid papers.”
