    Committee     member Hadi al-Yasiri member of the House of Representatives for the National Alliance said in a statement singled out the reporter / JD / that Turkey plans to set up dam Aaroaúa new so-called bridging (carrot) and will convert about 40 percent of the Tigris to the dam, indicating that this dam is about 38 40 kilometers from the Iraqi-Turkish border, saying that the construction of this dam will cause "major disaster" for Iraq because of the Tigris River then will become the only name on the grounds that the amount of water taken from the river to the dam is twice Maysthlkh the not they of the Tigris River.
    He Yasiri that the Turkish government has developed plans for the dam did not begin to implement it so far, warning of the existence of significant damage to the Iraqi side in all sectors of agricultural, environmental and water resources.
    He stressed Yasiri the need to activate previous agreements with the Turkish side, the most prominent of the Convention in 1947 and that Article V of them on the upstream countries see the other side on the construction of dams and reservoirs which intends to set up within the first countries, in addition to the existence of six protocols, including the 1997 Convention which was signed by Iraq among the countries of the non-navigational purposes provided for securing the upstream countries share with the riparian countries and benefiting from those waters, in addition to one of the conferences in Chile to activate such a convention and find an appropriate solution to secure the amount of water contained to Iraq.
    He cautioned committee member that Iraq did not know yet how much the assigned amount of water that Turkey is launching in the Tigris and the Euphrates, pointing out that Turkey always remember the term "basin of the Tigris and Euphrates," while insisting Iraq to launch the label "basins of the Tigris and the Euphrates."
