US President Donald Trump congratulated the US military on Twitter, saying: "I congratulate our great army men and women, you were the best representative of America and the world, you did well in Syria's strike."
On Thursday, the US military ordered a powerful missile strike on an air base of the Syrian regime in response to a chemical attack blamed on President Bashar al-Assad's regime in Khan Youkhun in the Idlib countryside on Tuesday.
Fifty-nine Tomahawk-guided missiles targeted a military airfield linked to the Syrian chemical weapons program and "directly related" to the "terrible" events that took place Tuesday morning in Khan Sheikun, a town in northwestern Syria, a White House official said on condition of anonymity. .
The US military strike came after the UN Security Council failed to agree on a resolution in response to a chemical attack that killed at least 86 people, including 30 children and 20 women.
