North Korea has criticized the participation of US B-1 bombers in military exercises on the Korean Peninsula, calling it a dangerous step that could ignite a nuclear war in the region.
North Korea accused the United States of "reckless military provocations" that escalate tensions in comments published by the newspaper Rodong Sinmun and quoted by the Associated Press on Sunday.
US Air Force launchers participated in training in South Korea, along with South Korean and American fighter jets.
The bombers also flew alongside a Japanese fighter on their way back to Anderson Air Base on Guam Island.
The 10-hour exercise came three days after North Korea tested an intercontinental ballistic missile.
US military officials described the exercises as a defensive review of the force and said they showed "a strong US commitment to its allies."
US President Donald Trump on Tuesday threatened North Korea with a harsh response if its missile tests continued, adding that ending the North Korean regime was a strategic option and would take necessary steps.
