Czech Prime Minister Bohslav Sopotka on Monday expressed his government's readiness to exert efforts and provide support for Iraq in various military, economic and other aspects. The Czech president expressed his country's desire to expand cooperation and strengthen bilateral relations, stressing that Prague has allocated about seven million dollars to support the humanitarian aspects in Iraq.
Over the past three weeks, Baghdad has received a number of Arab and foreign ministers, most recently US Defense Secretary James Matisse and French Foreign and Defense Ministers.
The Czech prime minister arrived in Baghdad on Saturday evening for a two-day official visit. Sopotka met the presidents and ministers, as well as Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari.

Jaafari called on the head of the Czech government to open two consulates in Basra and Najaf al-Ashraf because they have a significant impact on opening the horizons of investment and increasing the volume of trade exchange between the two countries.
Czech Prime Minister Sopotka met Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, and the two sides held official talks on bilateral relations and opportunities for military and economic cooperation.
The two presidents held a joint press conference to highlight the most important points reached by the two sides during their talks.
During his meeting with his Czech counterpart, Abadi expressed his pride in the historic relations between the two countries and his appreciation of the Czech Republic's support for Iraq in its war against Damascus and the cooperation in the fields of military, economic, trade and cultural and looking forward to expanding it in other fields.
"The government and the people are keen to support Iraq and stand by its side in this war. This military and security cooperation and training are added to the deep relations and cooperation in economic, health, cultural and social fields," he said. At the same time, he expressed his country's desire to expand trade exchange and sign agreements on cooperation in the field of investment and facilitate the participation of Czech companies in the reconstruction process in Iraq.
"His government will allocate $ 4 million to the humanitarian side in Iraq and another three million will be allocated," Sobotka told a joint press conference with Abadi. He was pleased to open an office selling Czech cars in Baghdad, stressing his desire to bring Czech companies back to Iraq.
Later, the Czech Prime Minister met with President Fuad Masoum.
During the meeting, Masoum stressed Iraq's interest in benefiting from Czech expertise in the fields of refinery construction, development of oil and gas industries and other heavy industries, especially the production of agricultural machinery, automobile industry and road paving.
