[ltr]An Iranian official has revealed that major international banks are suspending their dealings with Iran under the specter of the return of international sanctions, as Tehran continues to violate international resolutions, especially with regard to its support for terrorism and the continued development of its controversial missile program.[/ltr]
[ltr]A member of the Iranian Foreign Investment Committee, Hussein Selimi, told the Mehr news agency that the major European banks are also afraid to deal with Iran because of the expected sanctions.[/ltr]
[ltr]Selimi said that after news of some companies being fined by SWIFT for violating the sanctions, major international banks are afraid to deal with Iran for fear of being placed on the US sanctions list.[/ltr]
[ltr]According to the Iranian official, the province was not limited to European banks only, as Chinese banks closed the accounts of many of its Iranian customers for fear of sanctions.[/ltr]
[ltr]The agency "ISNA" Iran has confirmed that banks ABC, ICBC and MERCHENT in China closed accounts of Iranians.[/ltr]
[ltr]The National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Shura (parliament) of Iran, confirmed in a report last month, that except for some small banks in Europe, the major banks refuse banking transactions with Iran.[/ltr]
