[ltr]The Libyan interim government, headed by Abdullah al-Thani, announced on Wednesday the travel ban for US citizens to Libya in response to US President Donald Trump's decision to prevent the entry of Libyans to his country.[/ltr]
[ltr]The government said in a statement it had followed "with great concern" Trump's announcement "to suspend the entry of Libyan citizens to the United States as immigrants and non-migrants by business and tourist visas ...".[/ltr]
[ltr]"This dangerous escalation targeting specific Libyan citizens and putting them in a basket with the terrorists our armed forces are fighting ... puts the Libyan interim government in front of one irreplaceable option," the statement said.[/ltr]
[ltr]And "is the application of the principle of reciprocity," according to the statement, which concluded that the government "decided to prevent the entry of holders of US citizenship to the Libyan soil."[/ltr]
[ltr]The latest ban includes the suspension of all immigration visas for citizens of Chad, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Syria, Yemen and Somalia and the suspension of non-immigration visas such as work and tourism to citizens of Chad, Libya, North Korea, Syria and Yemen.[/ltr]
