Eight members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards were killed in clashes with Kurdish militants in the northeast of the country.
The clashes took place on Friday afternoon between the border guards and the militants of the "Bijak" organization, classified as a terrorist in Iran, in the region of Jaladran, the province of Azerbaijan in the far northwest of Iran near the border with Turkey.

The source stressed that "the terrorist organization suffered heavy losses" by the confrontations without mentioning the number of dead and wounded in its ranks, pointing out that the hunt for militants is still continuing in the region.

The organization of the Free Life Party, active in Iran's Kurdistan, also known as the Pijak, is the most prominent Kurdish movement that has been fighting for years against the authorities in Iran.

And "Free Life" is a leftist political party speaking for the Kurds of Iran, but it adopts the political program of the PKK and its leader Abdullah Ocalan, and fights for it.

The PKK established a military force in 2004 in the areas of influence of the PKK in the Kandil mountains in northern Iraq, along the Kurdish-dominated western provinces of Iran.

"Free Life" includes a political and military wing similar to its Turkish counterpart in a highly organized hierarchy. The military wing is called the "Eastern Kurdistan Forces."

Press reports suggested that the number of full-time fighters in the ranks of about 3 thousand elements, in addition to more than 25 thousand members are organized into the cells of clandestine work inside Iran.
