The Ministry of Electricity revealed that it is subject to the terms of the external donors of financial loans for the conclusion of contracts with private and public companies in Iraq.

The Ministry of Electricity spokesman Musab al-teacher said in a press statement: The ministry can not contract directly with government companies without the adoption of these companies on the principle of competition.

He added: "We in the Ministry of Electricity support the local product, but we are limited by the World Bank as the donor of financial loans to the Ministry, which requires us to deal with private and public companies according to the principle of competition with other companies.

"The World Bank has set conditions, including that the specifications of the materials we contract to purchase are of a global quality, and that local companies, whether private or public, enter into competition with other companies according to the principle of quality and price competition.
