    Baghdad / Sky Press:

Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi returned to Iraq on Friday after wrapping up his participation in the World Economic Forum in Davos, Sweden.

"Abadi returned home today after attending the World Economic Forum in Davos," a statement received by Sky Press said.

Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi arrived in Switzerland on Tuesday for the World Davos Forum and held a series of meetings with officials and leaders of the country. The last was his meeting with Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos.

Abadi said Iraq needed help in dozens of projects, with Baghdad ready to convene major donors in Kuwait next month, to be held in coordination with the World Bank.

"They are huge amounts of money, we know we can not manage them through our budget," Abbadi told the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

"We know that we can not manage it through grants, it is almost impossible, so we now resort to investment and reconstruction through investments, and this is a step forward and we can achieve it."

    Any thoughts on this?

"They are huge amounts of money, we know we can not manage them through our budget," Abbadi told the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Sounds to me he wants as many companies to investment in Iraq as possible. When one makes an investment, one expects a return on that investment - so Iraq had better be prepared to offer a good rate of return because sending workers, equipment, etc. into the country is costly, salaries, housing, transportation, exploration, shipping/receiving, etc. is not easy and those foreign workers with expertise does not come without high costs - and "combat pay" may have to be paid as inducement for those workers. This is going to be a very long term of investment, costly and in the end with very high yield and success for Iraq in all areas.

It has to do with the investment law an if I remember correctly it was one of those laws that was voted on but never made the gazzette

So are you saying since the investment law didn't make it into the gazette, that the investors will have no lawful protection for their investments? Some protection must be there since the World Bank is participating and the US is involved, etc. I am very interested in what you have to say about this Diamond. Thanks
