    The Security Council held an emergency session closed to discuss the deteriorating situation on the border between the Gaza Strip and Israel after the killing of 16 Palestinians shot by the Israeli army during the demonstrations on the occasion of "Earth Day", but the meeting ended without the members of the Council to agree on a statement Mutual. 

    "There is fear that the situation could deteriorate in the coming days," UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs Tayyip-Brook Zerihun warned.
    The Security Council met at the invitation of Kuwait to discuss the latest developments in Gaza , where clashes broke out with out tens of thousands of Gaza residents in a march near the Israeli border in the mass protests that have killed 16 Palestinians and injured hundreds of others in the worst day of violence since the Gaza year 's war in 2014 , in 

    turn , , Said the French delegate to the United Nations that "the risk of escalation (tension) is real There is a possibility of a new conflict in the Gaza Strip." 

    In the same context, the United States and Britain expressed regret for the date of the meeting because of coinciding with the Jewish Passover, which began to celebrate on Friday evening, which prevented the presence of any Israeli diplomat to the emergency meeting held at the level of assistant ambassadors.

    "It is vital that this council be balanced," he said, stressing that "we should have reached an arrangement that would allow all parties to participate in this meeting." 

    "We are deeply saddened by the loss of human life that has taken place," the US diplomat said. 
    Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon issued a statement ahead of the Security Council meeting, accusing Hamas of being behind the violence. 

    On the occasion of their "Land Day", tens of thousands of Palestinians, especially children and women, poured into the area adjacent to the border between Gaza and Israel on Friday in a protest march called the "Great March of Return". 

    It is scheduled to continue this protest movement for 6 weeks to demand the activation of the "right of return"

    According to the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip, 16 Palestinians were killed and more than 1,400 injured in clashes with the Israeli army. 

    Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas accused the Israeli government of "taking full responsibility" for the deaths of Palestinian victims and called on the international community to "protect the defenseless Palestinian people."
