Education implements an extensive campaign against smoking and drug abuse
02/4/2018 12:00 am [rtl] BAGHDAD / Asra al-Samarrai The Ministry of Education has launched an extensive campaign to combat the phenomenon of smoking and drug abuse, which has recently spread among the youth in society, targeting primary and secondary schools throughout the country. The ministry's director of media relations Zeinab Al-Ahmad told Al-Sabah that her ministry, through monitoring the future of students in secondary schools, launched a campaign to combat smoking and drug abuse. The directorates in Baghdad and the provinces have issued a statement, The Directorate General of the National and Foreign Education has also set up a committee for prevention and follow-up in schools to reduce the phenomenon of drug abuse and protect society from it. She stressed that the campaign aims at preserving the safety of students from this serious scourge that kills the society. Therefore, the directorates of the whole country have been directed to form a permanent committee for prevention and follow-up in each school. The head of the school should be headed by a school principal and an educational counselor. One of the teachers of primary schools with three active members of the Parents Council, whose task is to follow up and educate students and students about their risks and to submit monthly reports to the Directorate of Education, according to the geographical area of the school to take the necessary action against cases discovered during the Abba. The ministry is coordinating with the Health and Environment Division in the General Directorate of Sports Activity and the Ministry of Health with the active contribution of a group of doctors and health officials to benefit from their experiences.
