Finland gives green light to North Nile 2 project

The Finnish Government has completed the procedure for granting the necessary permits for the construction of the North Stream 2 pipeline through its economic waters, after the Southern Finland Regional Management Agency granted its approval of the project.
The Finnish agency approved the project for the transfer of gas "Northern Torrent 2" based on the law on the use of regional water. The Nord Stream 2 operator has received the necessary approvals from the Finnish government after receiving the first license on April 5.
The German government has given all necessary permits for the project earlier, and is expected to give Denmark and Sweden approval.
In a related context, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak on Thursday, expressed his full confidence in the implementation of the project, saying: "The required licenses are being completed and obtained from countries that will pass the" Northern Torrent 2 "in the territorial waters. Germany has given full licenses, Finland has now granted the final license, and work is in line with the plan with other countries, in particular, Denmark and Sweden. We are confident in the implementation of the project, it is primarily an economic project, aimed at meeting the needs of European consumers and companies. The "Northern Torrent-2" is a project to extend gas pipelines from Russia to Germany directly across the Baltic Sea floor, and is supposed to be built parallel to the "North Stream-1" pipeline.
The project involves several international companies, led by Gazprom, which owns a 50% stake in the project, while a consortium of 5 other European energy companies owns 10% each. The project cost 8 billion euros.
