    North Korea and the United States form working groups for nuclear disarmament

    Washington and Pyongyang have agreed to form working groups to coordinate and rationalize efforts to achieve denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula, the State Department said.
    "Our Foreign Secretary Mike Pompeo's talks with North Korean officials focused on ways to return the remains of US soldiers who were killed during the Korean War and nuclear disarmament issues," State Department spokeswoman Heather Neuert said.
    According to press reports, Pompeo left the talks with the North side to telephone US President Donald Trump and brief him on the latest discussions.
    During his visit to North Korea, Pompio conveyed to Pyongyang President Donald Trump's promise to North Korea for a bright future after its complete disarmament.
    "President Trump promises a bright future for North Korea and to do so requires work aimed at the complete denuclearization," said Pompeo.
    Pompeo arrived in Pyongyang yesterday for the first time after the historic Singapore summit between Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in Yueno.

    US and North Korean officials have formed working groups to address details, including verification of efforts to achieve nuclear disarmament, a State Department spokeswoman said on Saturday. 

    A joint report by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on his second visit to Pyongyang quoted US State Department spokesman Heather Naort as saying that Pompeo's talks with North Korean officials included the return of the remains of Americans killed in the Korean War in the 1950s as well as nuclear disarmament issues. 

    The report said Pompeo had left the venue to telephone President Donald Trump to brief him on the latest discussions.
