Home
US President Donald Trump has extended sanctions on Lebanon since 2007 for another year, the White House said.
The White House claimed that Trump made this decision because Iran continues to supply arms to the Lebanese Hezbollah.
In a letter to the US Congress explaining the reason for extending sanctions against Lebanon, Trump said Iran was supplying its allies in Lebanon with increasingly sophisticated weapons.
The United States claims to have imposed sanctions on "those who undermine sovereignty and democracy in Lebanon" and organize violence for political reasons and "contribute to Syria's influence on Lebanese territory."
