Attack on an improvised explosive device targeting the US Consulate in Mexico
The Guadalajara authorities said that an explosive device targeted the US consulate in the western Mexican city on Sunday night but did not cause any casualties and caused minor damage.
The blast occurred hours before the inauguration of new Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador in the presence of US Vice President Mike Pence and Ivanka Trump, the daughter of Donald Trump.
"The federal authorities are conducting investigations," the local prosecution said on Twitter.
A source at the local prosecutor's office said video footage of surveillance cameras showed someone placing the explosive device before being pulled away.
The explosion caused a gap inside the wall surrounding the consulate park.
