    [BAGHDAD -] Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities Abdul-Amir Al-Hamdani and Iranian Vice President agreed to activate the memorandum of understanding in the tourism and archeological sectors between the two countries.

    An Iraqi official said that an archaeological mission from the University of Stony Brook, the US, consisting of 20 researchers, arrived in the province of Dhi Qar to resume excavations in the city of Or archaeological, for the third consecutive season. 
    "The mission of Stony Brook University, headed by Elizabeth Stone, which includes 20 people from different disciplines, has already reached the province of Dhi Qar and that the mission will start the excavation in the province of Dhi Qar, The city during the next two days. "
    He added that the work of the mission will continue for 75 days, "to complete the excavations carried out during the previous seasons and achieved a lot of discoveries in the city." 
    After 2003, Iraq witnessed the participation of dozens of missions from American, British, Italian and other universities in archaeological excavations in Iraq, especially in the province of Dhi Qar 375 km south of Baghdad, which includes remnants of the era of Sumerian civilization.
