Industry: Signing 50 investment contracts during the second half of 2019 to develop the ministry's factories and companies

The Ministry of Industry announced, on Sunday, that it signed more than 50 investment contracts during the second half of 2019 to develop the reality of the Iraqi industry, noting that the contracts were signed after opening the door for investment for companies and factories.
"The Ministry of Industry has 280 factories and 34 production companies, all of which are late, and some old and dilapidated production lines have been established since the 1960s," ministry spokesman Mortada Al-Safi told Al-Maalouma.
He explained that "those factories and companies need huge funds to qualify and re-operate them with production comparable to the importer," noting that "the recent government approvals and opening the door for investment have given the green light to operate them through investment contracts."
He added that "the Ministry of Industry signed during the second half of 2019 more than 50 investment contracts to qualify its companies and factories with regard to factories producing foodstuffs, raw materials, petrochemicals, etc."
