, The Parliamentary Legal Committee demanded, on Wednesday, the Ministry of Justice to send a copy of the lists of those involved in a general amnesty to the House of Representatives to audit it and ensure its conformity with the constitution and the laws in force and to ensure that some of those excluded from the amnesty do not include it.
"The Iraqi government announced a recommendation to the President of the Republic to issue a special amnesty for some of those convicted of a number of crimes. In this recommendation, the categories of those covered and excluded from the amnesty have been identified in this recommendation," said a member of the legal committee, human rights lawmaker Hussein al-Aqabi, in a statement received by Mawazine News. In compliance with Article 73 / First of the Constitution, which authorizes the President of the Republic to issue a special amnesty upon the recommendation of the Prime Minister, and in my capacity as a member of the Parliamentary Legal Committee concerned with overseeing the Ministry of Justice in charge of preparing the lists of those included, I ask her to send a copy of these lists to the House of Representatives and his legal committee to audit it and ensure the extent of Conformity with the constitution and laws in force and to ensure that some of those excluded from the amnesty do not include it.
He added, "We do not conceal our fear of gaps in the process of special amnesty that will empty it from its humanitarian content and threaten social security and peace and confiscate the sacrifices of heroes in our security forces through the possibility of some terrorists and symbols of corruption including pardon, as happened previously."
And he warned the political and executive sides against "the consequences of taking any such step, and we will not allow its passage if it includes any constitutional or legal violation of what we fear and warn of." Ended 29 / p.
