The Ministry of Oil announced the outcome of smuggling cases that it monitored over the past year.
The ministry said in a statement that "Ultra Iraq" received a copy of it, that it "revealed that it had monitored more than 45 cases of various smuggling dens and trading in oil derivatives during the past year."
The statement pointed out that "the cadres of the inspection body of the company, through its various inspection tours in separate governorates, uncovered dens used for smuggling oil derivatives, and those involved in this activity were arrested."
And the Ministry of Oil indicated that "the operations were carried out with the support of forces from the Oil Police and Intelligence and the Federal Police," pointing out that "they confiscated the seized quantities immediately."
According to the statement, the Chairman of the Distribution Company, Hussein Talib, confirmed that “the company through the inspection body in 2020 carried out a qualitative activity at the level of the oil sector in general, and it has positive consequences even on the security file, since smuggling operations are suspicious activities and are considered illegal sources of financing, Such acts that affect the country's economic level must be addressed. "
For his part, the Director of the Inspection Authority of the Distribution Company, Alaa Adnan Mahmoud, pointed out that “the authority’s cadres are carrying out their duties to the fullest to follow up the cases of smuggling, stressing that these cases varied according to their locations. By monitoring any possible defect that may occur in the movement of petroleum products and following up on the mechanism of their access to the distribution sites in all governorates, in addition to relying on intelligence information received through the Energy Police, "explaining that" as soon as the information is received, the authority proceeds to form joint committees with the relevant authorities. " The relationship to control those violations and refer the violators and those involved to the judiciary. "
