In a statement received by Al-Furat News Agency, Al-Hasnawi said, "Parliamentary signatures have been collected for the prime minister's approach to activate the Iraqi Atomic Energy Law {Law No. 43 of 2016}."
And she indicated, "This law is due to its importance in the disposal of radioactive waste and the follow-up of the establishment of the electro-nuclear station, which is concerned only with the Atomic Energy Authority and according to the law."
Al-Hasnawi noted, "The supervisory authorities are present in Law 99 of 1980 in force {the Law on the Prevention of Ionizing Radiation} and the Law of the Iraqi Commission for the Control of Radioactive Materials {Law 72 of 2004}, and that delaying the activation of the law on the pretext that there is no supervisory authority is rejected by law.
And called on "the Presidency of the Council of Ministers to rely on the nuclear activity experts who are currently in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, as well as the supervisory authorities that have laws in force and work in them so far, and not to rely on some members of the advisory body to take important decisions for state institutions that concern the future of Iraq."
And she indicated, "The task of the advisory body is to express an opinion, not to stop the application of laws."
