Washington expresses its condolences and renews its commitment to support Iraq
The US ambassador to Iraq, Matthew Tueller, expressed his sadness to hear of the hospital fire incident in Nasiriyah, Salah al-Din Governorate.
"I am deeply saddened to hear of the horrific fire at Al-Hussein Hospital in Nasiriyah, and my deepest condolences to the victims," Tueller said in a statement Tuesday. "Our prayers are with the families of those missing, the brave first responders, and the medical staff who are caring for the wounded."
Tueller reiterated his country's commitment to supporting Iraq, saying, "The United States remains committed to supporting our Iraqi partners as they respond to this tragedy as well as the ongoing Corona pandemic."
