    Yes Iraq: Baghdad

Today, Monday, the Ministry of Planning announced that the country is facing demographic and demographic challenges, represented by continuous displacement and migration and the urbanization of cities.
A statement by the ministry stated that "the Department of Human Development in the Ministry of Planning held a workshop on integrating population factors and indicators in the sustainable development process, with the support of the United Nations Population Fund, in the presence of the Director-General of the Department, Maha Abdul Karim Al-Rawi, and the Director-General of the Department of Regional and Local Development, Muhammad Mohsen, and the directors of planning in the governorates for a period Two days in the Babylon Hotel.
The Director General of the Department of Human Development said in a speech during the opening of the workshop that Iraq faces many demographic challenges, the most important of which is a geographically unbalanced population distribution between urban and rural areas and a continuous migration to urban areas for economic and social reasons that have led to the urbanization of cities.
She added that "other challenges included internal displacement due to the terrorist organization ISIS and the subsequent liberation operations in a number of cities, especially large ones, including Kinawa and Anbar, high population growth rates due to high fertility rates, high rates of marriage and early pregnancy, and the migration of national talents abroad."
She pointed to "the complex economic and health crises resulting from the drop in oil prices and the outbreak of the Corona pandemic, as well as the challenge of Iraq entering the stage of the demographic gift, or the so-called demographic opportunity, which if it is not invested better, its art will turn from a blessing to a curse."
The official in the Ministry of Planning indicated that “the development process in Iraq is a result of the adoption of planning frameworks that resulted in multiple sectoral development that enabled institutions, their bodies and formations to carry out interventions whose intensity and extent are related to the need to implement mechanisms based on continuous monitoring of the development reality in general and the social and population reality in particular.”
She concluded her speech by saying that there are a number of clear policies, strategies and plans aimed at studying, analyzing and developing solutions to the problems and challenges faced by the Iraqi population.
