A member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Jamal Cougar, said on Monday (September 27, 2021) that the investment budget allocations in the 2021 Budget Law are too shy and unable to meet the development requirements.
Cougar said, in a statement to  IQ News , that "the ceiling of the investment budget in the 2022 draft law cannot be raised, given that the operating budget acquires the majority of budget funds due to the large number of employees."
He added that "there are approximately 55 trillion dinars that go annually from the budget as salaries and wages for state employees, as well as the amounts that go towards repaying debts, so what is left of the operational budget is shy and modest sums."
He stressed that "the requirements of development and stopping to continue borrowing cannot be achieved unless there is a real management of the budget law with an investment mentality."
