{Political: Al Furat News} The Electoral Commission revealed the true number of invalid ballot papers during the parliamentary elections that took place on the tenth of last October.
Commission spokesperson, Jumana Al-Ghalay told {Euphrates News}: "There are invalid papers because there is no sign or more than a sign or signature by hand and not with the stamp of the inscription, and therefore these papers are considered invalid and their number is more than the declared, which is about 700 thousand invalid papers."
She added, "The commission formed a committee to review these invalid papers, and after a physical review of them, it appeared that some of them were valid for 20 polling stations, and the visa in them was valid and submitted to the judicial authority to take the necessary action."
Al-Ghalay confirmed: "These invalid papers did not make any change in the sequence of candidates or winners, and the difference was close to one or two votes in each station, and it did not affect the results."
Private electoral sources had revealed that there were 489,000 "invalid" ballot papers during the early elections.
Yesterday, the judiciary began examining the appeals against the election results and their appendices from the Electoral Commission.
The (Independent Electoral Commission Act elections) ordered the judiciary decisively all appeals within 10 working days from the date they are received successively, including the Commission to answer a broad appeal, and that the decisions of the judiciary (unqualified) does not accept the appeal in any way.
