The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, received, Thursday, at the Peace Palace in Baghdad, the Russian Ambassador to Iraq, Elbrus Kutrashev.
The media office of the President of the Republic stated in a statement received by Mawazine News that "during the meeting, they discussed relations between the two countries and ways to develop them in all fields, and the importance of strengthening cooperation in the field of security and defense, as well as reviewing trade, economic and cultural cooperation in a way that achieves the common interests of the two friendly peoples." Regional situations were also discussed.
President Salih stressed that "the region faces several challenges, and work should be done to overcome differences and reduce imbalances through dialogue," noting that "the Iraqi openness to its regional surroundings aims to consolidate security and stability, and that Iraq's stability, security and sovereignty are an integral part of the security and peace of the region."
