[size=45]The White House: New missions for US forces in Iraq
The Commander-in-Chief of the International Coalition Forces in Iraq and Syria, General John Brennan, described the presence of US forces in Iraq after the scheduled withdrawal date, as the new phase during which these forces will exercise a set of new tasks.
Brennan stressed that the American forces will not withdraw from Iraq, and will remain to carry out their new work tasks that were entrusted to them, and that the American orders from the White House included a change in the mission of these forces, not withdrawing them from Iraq.
He added that the new tasks are to support, train and develop the Iraqi forces, and stresses that the survival of these forces comes at a direct official request from the Iraqi government in Baghdad.
