The largest independent parliamentary alliance announces its participation in the election session of the President of Iraq on conditions
Shafaq News/ An alliance for the people, which includes about 18 deputies, announced on Friday its participation in the presidential election session, which is expected to be held tomorrow, Saturday.
Shaswar Abdul Wahed, head of the Alliance for the People and the New Generation Movement, said in a tweet seen by Shafak News Agency, "With a conditional 17-point paper, and for the sake of the citizen, we will enter the session tomorrow (the new generation, extension and some independents), if the tripartite alliance signed it and ensured its implementation by the next government, we will enter to the meeting, otherwise we will not achieve it."
He added, "Everyone should know that it is the duty of every parliamentarian not to boycott parliament because of personal demands, positions or ministries. There is no opposition party that is honest with itself that works to disrupt parliament, the only institution in which the voice of the people exists, and we mean the opposition... But Our presence inside that dome is a response to that institution, and it does not mean that we are with a specific party, or that we participate in the government, but rather we will be a strong opposition during the years of this session, observing, holding accountable and questioning the next government.”
Abdul Wahed indicated that “attending parliament sessions is the most correct for parliamentary work, and this does not mean standing with any party, but rather attending in order to achieve the citizens’ demands while not voting on the candidate of the main parties, which will prove the independence of the independents, but not attending means leaving the parliament and standing.” with a specific party.
He concluded by saying, "We will remain loyal to our country and our voters, and we will only bow to God. No money or positions, and we are the coalition that fights corruption and works for popular, not personal, demands."
