    [rtl]Today, Thursday, the Ministry of Agriculture confirmed achieving self-sufficiency in the wheat crops during the current year and covering the need for the ration card, while identifying two factors that will affect food security during the next year .[/rtl]
    [rtl]The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Mahdi Sahar al-Jubouri, told the official news agency, "During the two years 2019-2020, Iraq was able to market 5 million tons of wheat, while in 2021 the marketing was 3.5 million tons of wheat, due to the reduction of the agricultural plan by 50 % ".[/rtl]
    [rtl]He added, "Wheat has been marketed to the Ministry of Trade, in addition to 260 thousand tons of seeds, which are of higher ranks, and their distribution is continuing to farmers ."[/rtl]
    [rtl]He pointed out, "Reducing the agricultural plan by 50%, in addition to reducing subsidies, not delivering farmers' dues for two consecutive years, increasing fertilizer prices and not providing fertilizer subsidies, will reduce wheat production from 3.5 million to less than 3 million this year, yet this production provides The entire need for the ration card of flour for 2022. ”[/rtl]
    [rtl]He stressed, "During the current year 2022, we did not have any imports of wheat, and we will have self-sufficiency despite the decrease in production, and in previous years we had a surplus in production and it was stored in the warehouses of the Ministry of Commerce ."[/rtl]
    [rtl]He explained, "The wheat harvest will be in the middle of April, and we will wait until the end of the sixth month to notice the marketed quantities of the wheat crop to the silos in the Ministry of Commerce, after which the government decides," noting that "the preliminary data indicate that there is self-sufficiency during this year for the ration card items." ".[/rtl]
    [rtl]He pointed out, "We have stored more than three months, and until mid-April, the entire quantity will be delivered to us, 3 million tons, and this will be provided by the end of the year," stressing, "During 2022, we do not need to import wheat because it is available despite the lack of fertilizer support ."[/rtl]
    [rtl]He stated, "The problem is to address the next year for the year 2023, because we need to pay the farmers' dues for this year, in addition to previous years and to support fertilizers, and this is an essential point to provide complete food security ."[/rtl]
    [rtl]He concluded, by saying: "We plan to produce 5 million tons next year, similar to the previous years 2019-2020, and pay farmers' dues a primary goal to encourage them ."[/rtl]
