[rtl]Baghdad / NINA / The Minister of Commerce, Atheer Daoud Al-Ghurairi, announced that the financial dues allocated to receive the wheat crop for the current year 2024 will be distributed to farmers immediately after the crop is delivered.
The minister said in a statement: “The financial dues allocated to receive the wheat crop for the current year 2024 will be disbursed to farmers first and foremost directly during the 2024 marketing season, in implementation of the Prime Minister’s directive to allocate the Ministry of Finance an amount of (5) trillion dinars to pay their dues.”
The Minister confirmed that the actual need for the wheat crop annually amounts to approximately (4.7) million tons, and that the yield is expected to exceed (6) million tons, according to estimates by the Ministry of Agriculture, in addition to the surplus quantity from last year, which amounted to one million tons.
The minister pointed out that among the ministry's plans is to launch a wheat export project and enter the global market and compete in it.
It is noteworthy that the General Company for Grain Trade this year developed a plan to increase the urgent storage capacity (Al-Banakar) in most of the governorates of Iraq to store the crop according to standard specifications, which is sufficient to store wheat for more than the next four years./End 7[/rtl]
