    Economy News-Baghdad
A report by the Office of Financial Supervision confirmed that the Al-Gharraf oil field, which is operated by the Malaysian company Petronas and the Japanese company Japex, has not reached the peak production of 230 thousand barrels per day.
The report, which was reviewed by "Economy News", stated that after 7 years of commercial production in the Al-Gharraf field, it has not yet exceeded 50% of the production target in the service contract, which amounts to 230 thousand barrels per day.
He added that the field's production started in 2013, with a capacity of 67,000 barrels, and rose in 2016 to 100.9 thousand barrels per day, but then continued to decline to 95.8 thousand barrels per day, and in the year 2020, production shrank to 36,6 thousand barrels per day due to the reduction in production resulting from the recession. global due to the Corona pandemic.
The report monitored the slowness of the investing company in developing the field facilities since the start of production, due to the establishment of two qualities to isolate crude oil with a capacity of 50 thousand barrels per day, which are the only operating facilities that, if they operate at 100% of their designed capacity, will not achieve half of the contracted peak production of 230 thousand barrels The contract also did not include a time limit for the company investing the field to complete the treatment units and invest the associated gas.
He added that the field's production rate of associated gas is 47 million cubic feet, 10 million cubic feet are used to generate electric power, heat crude oil, and the remaining 37 million cubic feet goes to the combustion torch.
The report emphasized that the crude oil transport agreement with the investing company for the Al-Gharf oil field has not been resolved, which obliges the company to determine the specifications of the crude oil exported from the field in terms of the efficiency of the processing operations and the separation of water and impurities, which allows the investing company not to focus on the efficiency of the crude oil processing operations. Its focus is on increasing the quantities of oil produced and at the expense of quality in terms of low sulfur content.
The report pointed out that the Ministry of Oil changed its plans regarding the investment of associated gas in the Garraf field, as the commitment of the company investing the field was changed from establishing integrated units for the treatment of associated gas to only carrying out gas drying operations and pumping it to the project to be established in the Nasiriyah field for collecting gas. Dhi Qar Oil Company fields.
He explained that the number of wells that had been drilled in the field until the second quarter of 2021, amounted to 111 wells, adding that the Chinese Great Wall Company drilled 42% of the wells, the Chinese Zipac Company 19%, the Iraqi Drilling Company 25% and the US Weatherford Company 14%.
