Today, Friday, Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein confirmed that Iraq's role will be important in the Arab summit to be held in early October in Algeria.
Hussein said in a joint press conference with his Algerian counterpart Ramtane Lamamra in Baghdad, "Iraq and Algeria are two oil countries, and the energy file is very important globally," noting: "We discussed with our Algerian counterpart the dimensions and effects of the Russian-Ukrainian war on global food security."
He added, "The Arab contact group was formed to communicate with Russia and Ukraine as part of the efforts to stop the war," stressing that he "discussed with his Algerian counterpart the file of the Arab summit meeting at the beginning of next November."
He pointed out that "Iraq's role will be important in the Arab summit meeting," adding that "we discussed with our Algerian counterpart the Turkish aggression in Dohuk and Iraq's diplomatic steps to respond to it, in addition to the Algerian president's initiative to activate the Non-Aligned Movement and Iraq supported this proposal and is a member of it."
For his part, Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra stressed that "communication with Iraq is very important," stressing that "Algeria supports strengthening the Arab position in interacting with international events and challenges and effectively imposing this presence."
He stressed that "the world is on the verge of structural changes after the Corona crisis and the war in Ukraine," noting that "the Arab summit will be held on the first and second of next November."
He added, "They are now required to deepen the Iraqi-Algerian relationship," adding that he "carries a message of strength and solidarity from President Abdel Majid Taboun with Iraq."
He concluded by saying that "we are in solidarity with the Palestinian cause and we are working to unite the forces there." Ended / 25
