[rtl]Baghdad / NINA / Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi confirmed that Iraq is looking forward to holding the next Arab summit, by supporting a greater Arab role that contributes to the de-escalation efforts.
The media office of the prime minister stated: “Al-Kazemi met today the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, and his accompanying delegation. During the meeting, they discussed the latest developments on the regional and international arenas and the various current Arab issues.”
Al-Kazemi stressed "the importance of the effective presence of the Arab League and the development of its work systems in a way that enables it to serve the Arab peoples, stressing that Iraq is looking forward to holding the next Arab summit by supporting a greater Arab role that contributes to the efforts to calm down."
Al-Kazemi added that Iraq supports initiatives to end the conflict in Yemen and support Lebanon to overcome its difficult circumstances. It also supports Syria's return to the Arab League and the encouragement of internal dialogue in it.
The Prime Minister indicated that the Arab League has an important role to play in promoting constructive rapprochement, overcoming differences, and consolidating calm efforts between active regional states that are linked to historical relations that go beyond the current crises.
He also stressed during the meeting that the Palestinian issue should remain at the top of our priorities, because it represents an issue of conscience and conscience for Arabs and humanity, and because the Palestinian people are still suffering from harsh conditions and historical injustice.
For his part, the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, affirmed that the League’s foundation is keen to support Iraq in its lofty endeavors.
He also praised the courageous steps of the Iraqi government, especially with regard to the wise and balanced path of Iraqi openness to its Arab and regional surroundings, and the positive spirit of initiative that it pursues. / End 7[/rtl]
