The Patriotic Union: Many opinions support our obtaining two ministries in the next Iraqi government
Shafaq News/ Spokesman for the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Soran Jamal Taher, stated that political parties support obtaining half of the Kurds' quota in the ministries in the formation of the federal government to be voted on Thursday evening.
Taher told reporters today, "Four ministries have been allocated to the Kurds," adding that "there are many opinions in favor of the PUK obtaining two of them."
This comes at a time when the Kurdistan Democratic Party revealed the names of its ministers in the government of Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani, which are scheduled to be presented to the parliamentary vote in the evening.
Party member Sherzad Qassem told Shafaq News Agency, "The party deserves three ministries from the new government, namely Foreign Affairs, Construction and Environment," noting that "the names that will receive these ministries have been decided to submit them to the Iraqi parliament and vote to give them confidence."
He added that the names are two banks, Rikani, Minister of Construction and Housing, Fouad Hussein, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Vian Sabri, Minister of Environment.
Apparently, the dispute between the two main parties in the Kurdistan Region (the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan) over the position of Minister of Environment, the position of Minister of Justice for Khaled Shwani of the Patriotic Union has been resolved.
